Dr Olivia Currie – Doctor
I graduated from University of Otago in 2005 and obtained my fellowship in General Practice in 2015, after working in paediatrics, paediatrics oncology and oncology previously. The skills and experiences from these sub-specialties continue to be valuable in general practice, and I have since developed skills in joint injections, gynaecological procedures and minor surgery. My other roles include research fellow at the Christchurch School of Medicine (doing general practice research and teaching/examining medical students), and providing pastoral care to 15 general practice registrars in Canterbury (with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners). Outside of work, I enjoy travel, comedy, good food and good company.
I embrace patient-centred medicine and I truly believe in ageing positively. Like others in the practice, I believe the body can and wants to heal itself. This makes medicine just another tool to help its process. Hence, I am always open minded about how different people would like to manage their health and endeavour to keep current in my clinical practice. I am proud to be part of the team at Hillmed Health, as we all strive to assist everyone we see achieve the best health outcomes at all life stages.
